ST. JOSEPH CALASANZ CBSE SCHOOL
location: Kanyakumari
Super built-up area: 90000+ sq. ft
This school is located at the southern most tip of India at Kanyakumari. The site overlooks the Bay of Bengal and can be seen from the sea.
This project was executed in two phases with a total built-up area of over 90,000 sq. ft. The first phase involved the construction of about 60,000 sq. ft. The client had only about a year time before the start of the next academic year. Hence, we had to race against time to complete the project on time.
The column position and structural detailing were done in such a way as to minimize the material and labour usage. Unnecessary sections were avoided to come up with an efficient section of beams and columns. During such a project, allocation of work schedule becomes crucial. The labour management has to be also on point to avoid any overlapping of schedules. Multiple shifts of labour had to be employed around the clock. We ensured that we always stayed ahead of schedule, which enabled us to create a buffer zone in case of any delays with respect to the supply chains. Over 100 labours were employed with a strong technical supervision. Since the quality is of utmost importance to us, any shortcomings in work were strictly taken care of.
Since it’s a coastal zone with high corrosion possibilities, the finishing materials were carefully chosen to adhere to such conditions.
